Project and Submission Requirements

  • Projects must be built during or after your city's DIALED IN event (in-person or via livestream) — no pre-existing work
  • All submissions must meaningfully use the Vonage Voice API
  • No cross-city teams — build with people from your own city's cohort
  • Builders retain full ownership of everything they submit
  • All deadlines are in Eastern Time (ET)
  • Submissions are open to US-based participants 18 and older

Prizes

9 winners. $5,000 total cash. A project can only win one prize — if it qualifies for more than one, it takes the higher-value prize and the next-highest submission in the other category wins instead.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Judging runs in 6 passes — one round per city (5 total), then a final roadshow-wide round reviewing every submission to select the 3 overall track winners.

Judge panel per city: 2 Vonage judges + 1 CreateHER Fest judge + 1 local community partner judge.

All submissions are scored on four criteria:

  • Technical Execution — Does your build work? Judges evaluate whether the Voice API is meaningfully integrated and functional, not just present. Craft over complexity.
  • Creativity & Originality — Did you use the Voice API in a way that surprises us? Judges want an unexpected use case or a fresh combination of ideas.
  • Real-World Potential — Who is this for and why does it matter? Judges want a clear problem, a real user, and a believable path to impact.
  • Presentation Quality — Your demo video is your submission. Judges should watch it and understand what you built, why, and how it works. Maximum 5 minutes.

People's Choice is selected by community vote directly on Devpost. All registered DIALED IN attendees and the broader Devpost community are eligible to vote. Voting opens once all city submission windows have closed.
